Smoke on the water

Had a lovely day at Diamond Harbour, going over on the ferry, and walking up the hill and down to the beach.

The day tinged with sadness now, for the people who have lost their home, and for those still threatened, now that the fire has jumped the road and is spreading towards Governor's Bay, but most of all for the helicopter pilot who has lost his life when the helicopter crashed into the hillside. Firefighters of all kinds are always at risk, but perhaps this type of fire, and firefighting is the most dangerous of all.

The extras are of a sparrow with a family using one of the sculptures by the sea - a very safe and desirable nest.
