Bridge over the River Slea.............
....................this bridge was originally part of the carriage way to Haverholme Priory. Gilbert of Sempringham founded the only English order of Cistercian monks who were then given the Priory. They did not like it and it fell into disrepair. Much.much later , the Priory was sold to George Finch-Hatton who rebuilt it in 1830. In 1926, it was again sold, this time to an American woman who had it dismantled, stone by stone, intending to have it rebuilt it in USA - but she died in a train crash and the stones were never shipped. They were later used to build new docks. The Bridge, of course remains.
This is a view not seen from the road and I thought it very pleasant on a bright, (so far!) sunny morning.
It is now becoming cloudy yet again !!
Have a pleasant day whatever...
