Museum Monday...Peter Paul Rubens
I shot the couple in front of this painting just to give some perspective. LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT PIECE!
Two things amaze me about the painting. The size, and the oldness of it. Peter Paul Rubens was born in 1577, and he died in 1640. Using my phone calculator...that's 377 years ago. 377 YEARS!!! Mr. Ringling has several pieces of Mr. Rubens hanging in the large room.
This is the same piece where Merrick walked in the door and said (much too loudly)..."Hey, how come all these people are naked?"
I like to stroll through the museum and grounds on Monday (the free day.) I always get there early for a good parking spot, then I take a nice walk. As an added bonus, there are 6 osprey nests on (or near) the grounds. And, as an added-added bonus today, I saw an eagle with his/her fledgling...high up in a pine tree.
