Open Air Craft Fair
It was the last day of a huge open air craft fair with exhibits from many states and also neighbouring countries. The place was packed and all the colours made the eyes water. Y bought two rugs, an olive wood mortar and pestle and a raw silk kurta but I kept my hands in my pockets. Tomorrow my luggage is right on the limit for internal flights. We then visited no less than 12 ATMs for money - only one had any and there was a queue of 35 people waiting. Finally found one though 5 people queued so am feeling more secure! Last night we went to a private flat where they put on experimental theatre productions. Only 24 seats and there was beetroot soup and lots of little momos to put in it and nibbles on the side afterwards. It was a one woman show - she became many different people and in between each cameo she two toned Mongolian style in an extraordinary way. She was able to speak with a low man's voice from deep in her chest too - quite extraordinary and I understood lots of the Hindi and there was a good sprinkling of English too. She has been invited to produce her show at the South Bank (London) in May. The owner of the beautiful flat is also an actor but his big hobby since childhood has been woodworking. His workshop was lined out with old maps and covered with woodworking tools - lots of them antiques. His bedroom was also his library - and he had made all the furniture. A few more pictures here from my day. No wifi at my hotel tomorrow so maybe no blip
