Rufous Hummingbird

New bird for me and new Hummingbird!

My mom called me this morning and said "Have you ever seen an orange hummingbird?"
I told her "no only in pictures."
She said, " I have one at my feeder!

I ran over there with my camera and waited, sure enough it showed up, chasing all of the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds away. It had claimed the feeder for his own. Sure enough after getting confirmation from my expert birding friends, it is definitely a male Rufous! A little out of range for North Texas. They do migrate through Texas but the range map shows extreme west Texas. Needless to say it has been a good day for me.
