A Walk in the Snowy Woods
My husband and I went for a walk in our local gamelands on this day. We had a snowstorm earlier in the week, and it left behind about six to eight inches of snow. But on this day, the temperatures warmed up into the 50s F, and it all began to melt. In the balmy temperatures, we spent most of the day outdoors enjoying the sunshine and blue skies.
This is a view of one of the paths we walked in the gamelands. You can see our footprints in the snow. And to the right, you can see a little pine tree bending over. My husband is a lover of trees, and it is his habit to pick up the little pines when the snow weighs them down and they topple over and get stuck. That is what he had just done: he was a hero to this little tree.
You may not think that it would make much difference, in the grand scheme of things. But the truth is, his actions made a BIG difference to that one tree. For the things we love, we MUST do what is right. We must stand up and be counted. It is perhaps the only way to be true to ourselves, to save the things we love.
The soundtrack: Pat Benatar, One Love.
