Mockingbird

Back at work, ace thunderstorm in the afternoon, early evening movie date with Parky for the new restoration of To Kill a Mockingbird. It's been one of my favourite books since I first read it as a child (I see that this yellowed paperback of mine was printed in 1980, when I was eleven). I re-read it every few years, and the film does a great job of capturing the atmosphere and spirit of the book. Gregory Peck, in particular, makes for a superb Atticus Finch. This is the sentence that, when it's spoken in the film, brings a lump to my throat every time...
