Oldest house in town

To day Akureyri (the town where I live) is celebrating it's 150 anniversary. Because of that we are having all kind of festivities this whole week. This foto shows Laxdalshús. Laxdalshús is the oldest house in Akureyri and the only merchandise house still standing from the old 19th century. It was built in 1795. The mountain ash you see at the right side of the house is said to be originated from a holy vein coming from the sacred mountain ash in Möðrufell lava. That tree was said to have grown up from the grave of siblings which life was taken because they were said to have committed incest.
