Munich!

I finally got another chance to visit Munich, and this time I was definitely impressed.

I took the bus in the morning to meet a friend (who had overslept, so I watched German comedy while waiting for them) and we all set off in the car to Munich - the high number of hops plants along the Autobahn is almost surprising.

It was my first time in the city centre, and it really is a nice place. I saw the sights and a couple awesome street performers (including Mongolian throat singers!) before grabbing a couple souvenirs and heading to the fountain you see above.

After that we went to the English Garden in Munich, which was (speaking as an Englishman) beautiful in the sunny weather. One litre of beer plus half a chicken and chips later, we went and sat by the small swimmer-filled river running through the park.

One of the highlights of the day has to be what happened next - despite a lack of swimwear, most of us decided to go ahead and jump into the fast-flowing water. It was great fun, probably a little dangerous, and I wish I could do it again!

We all dried off in the sun, and I managed to have something that resembled a conversation in German. I didn't much like Munich my first time there, but today changed my mind :)
