Sorting the cupboards

Putting some things back into storage, saying goodbye to others, taking a final photograph as a reminder. This is my old college sweatshirt - although by the time I started there in 1981 it was the College of St Hild and St Bede, the merger had preserved some of the traditions of the two previous single-sex colleges by keeping St Bede's traditional colours for the the men's sports teams and St Hild's colours for women's sports teams. The college first XI competed in the NE Colleges League and was rumoured to be as good as the University team. I played mostly for the second XI, who competed against other college teams. Although we had some decent results in our regular league seasons, I think our best result was defeating the all-conquering first team in an end-of season college 'friendly', much to their surprise and our delight!
