Soldier and girl

I was meeting a fellow blipper today. She had said to meet at the soldier and girl statue in Perth. I didn't have a clue where that was so I asked a few folk at work. Of course they thought I was on a date initially. Once I got over that awkwardness  I asked if they knew where it was and nobody , not even the the folk born and brought up in Perth knew. 
However, it was found and so this is what my blipfoto is of today. A lovely statue of a soldier and little girl. I must have a look into what the story is behind the statue.
