Deep Blue
Today we went on a Levada walk - a must, it seems when visiting Madeira. It was interesting, and enjoyable to a point, but not really my kind of walk, as it was very enclosed, and the terrain meant you had to keep your eyes on the path in front of your feet. The only thing that might have tempted me to get out my camera was a wonderful sighting of a Madeiran Firecrest, although a photo opportunity would have required a lot more time than we had at our disposal. When the walk did open up a bit, there was too much cloud to see much. The last half hour of the walk was in heavy rain, so we finiished with everything soaking wet. Amazingly, the weather was lovely back in Funchal. I went out just after sunsets to capture another view across the bay, with the nearly-full moon in the frame.
