Season of the dolls

As Hinamatsuri approaches dolls are appearing on displays in preparation for the Doll Festival, on March 3. Held every year to wish good health and future happiness for girls, families and now businesses set up a display of hina dolls clothed in colorful kimono and the family enjoys special food.

In the past, the festival was also a day to thank women busy working for the family. This was a day when women could enjoy themselves doing nothing.
