Puzzled

Mr B took a day off today and we headed up to Oxford to tour a few old haunts and entertain the kids with tales of what their lovely civilised Aunties and Uncles used to be like.

Mr B had never been up the big church tower, but I had and advised TallGirl that it was not for her! So the boys headed up the narrow, slippery spiral staircase, and we girls wandered in the sunshine taking pictures.

Then a tour through our old College (it was closed, but I think if you look like you belong, people don't mind so much)! And off to the Pitt Rivers Museum, which the kids very much enjoyed (especially the dodo). We all figured Newton was looking so puzzled here as he was trying to figure out what this creature was. (I didn't note it down unfortunately - a relative of elephants.)

Lunch was going to be a much trailed blow-out breakfast at St Giles Cafe which to our shock was shut down! (Something nagging at the back of my mind tells me I knew this.) So, the Eagle and Child instead for pies, and tales of my Dad nearly getting into a fight there.

The Ashmolean proved too much and we probably only managed a tenth of it, then a long wander through the Covered Market, the Turf, Merton Lane, Christ Church Meadows, Nuffield, Worcester and, at last, the bus stop.

When I worked in Oxford I used to get the bus to London often - so this journey feels very familiar. A good day out.

Yesterday's busy day is backblipped.
