Life's tangled skein

Guardbridge

This is the village of Guardbridge, in Fife. The river is the River Eden, and - if you look carefully - you can find three bridges.

The closest was originally a rail bridge, built in 1852 and closed during the Beeching cuts in 1969. The platform was removed, and all that remains is the piers in the river.

Beyond that is the old road bridge, closed in 1938 after almost 520 years of use.

And if you look really carefully, through the right-most arch, you can see the current road bridge
