Anna Meredith

My final gig of Celtic connections for this year and I can't see how it can be surpassed! We saw her Anno a few months ago, and I wasn't sure of this would live up to it, but it most certainly did.

A wall of sound, complex rhythms and melodies, virtuoso performances from 2 cellists, a tuba player, an amazing guitarist, an extremely impressive drummer and the very talented Anna who played clarinet, drums, keyboard, MacBook among other things and sang too. i read a flyer for the gig that her sound was "maximalist" which seems close to the mark. And finished with an absolutely stonking version of 500 miles.
