The Last Segment

Well, they didn't install the last segment of the Queensferrry Crossing roadway on Wednesday, as had been suggested at our recent visit, they lifted it in yesterday, when we were busy looking the other way.

So, after a bracing walk up the Water of Leith this morning we took ourselves to South Queensferry's Society Road to observe the new piece in position. There is still much work to be done; there remains a 40cm gap, which will be closed by drawing up the section over the viaduct on the south approach to meet this piece, after which the windbreaks are to be installed, and the signage and so on, before the public is let loose on it.

As an extra I have added a view of the Forth Bridge, which was looking particularly splendid in the late afternoon light.
