Surface

I've been putting together a journal of crafty odds and ends. The unfinished, the ideas, the "I don't know what to to do with this". And this item ended up as an EB. 
It is in essence quilting but of paper. I love the way the sewing (as quilting should) brings out the shapes in the image. It uses free machineing and crumpled paper. The lovely image of an unfurling fern/bracken leaf isn't mine but from some long forgotten magazine so someone else deserves credit for that. 
I've tagged it abstract Thursday because it has been abstracted from the original image and gone through a transformation, maybe that's a cheat.
