Skate & Bike Park

Today's the day ............................. to hang out

Youngsters in Kendal have been trying to get a skate & bike park for over ten years - and this summer it finally happened.

Young Cumbria - a charity which brings together more than 100 youth clubs and projects in the county - has championed the project and helped the young people to raise more than £60,000. The park is near the River Kent and the first proposals fell foul of the Environment Agency who objected with fears over the impact on the river's crayfish and with flooding concerns.

But it was all systems go there tonight when I passed it on my way home from work. It is great that there is now a designated place where youngsters can go and do their own thing .............................
