Was surprised to see the cob Mute Swan standing on a new (potential nesting) mound... especially as it was right beside the walkway where plenty dog walkers pass by. He seemed to be guarding it, and gently shooed off one of last year's cygnets that starting pecking around it. Those cygnets will soon be chased away from the Lochan, when the Spring cycle starts in earnest. I do hope the adults decide to move to somewhere less vulnerable.
