London
I went to London for the day. I used to live in South London for over 20 years up until 2006 and make an annual pilgrimage back to The Smoke just to enjoy it as a tourist.
I decided to walk the North Bank today as I have never visited that part of the Thames. I always seem to end up on the South Bank. Anyway, I discovered some real delights during my walk...some fabulous gardens (Embankment Garden in particular) and saw the South Bank in a way I had never seen before.
At the moment London is full to the brim with visitors. There's a fantastic atmosphere and I don't know if it was just me today but everyone seemed to be smiling, laughing and being polite to one another. It left me with a really great feeling!
Today's blip is a close up of the World War 2 monument on the Embankment. Despite it's sad depiction, it's a fantastic sculpture and as it is 3D in design, just entices people to touch and really look at it up close.
