As daylight was fading...

... I went out to give the Tough camera another little test, photographing street scenes in low light.

This is part of Starbeck High Street, a couple of miles from the centre of Harrogate - with its mixture of hairdressers and fast food shops. The camera did a reasonable job sitting on a tiny tripod.

I couldn't resist a link to yesterday, when I walked around Harrogate with the two aforementioned fellow blippers, looking for a missing railway signal box. I found one fellas. My extra shows Starbeck's own signal box, the main purpose of which is, at least twice an hour, to stop all the road traffic for 10 minutes or so, by closing the level crossing gates.

It is such fun sitting in that queue.

There was at least one suggestion in the nineteenth century to build a bridge for the road traffic to go over the line at this point. That excellent idea was rejected on the basis that the noisy trains would frighten the horses! Neigh!
