Another fine day in Funchal

Today the battered Fiat Punto went back to the hire company so today has been spent close to our home from home.
A morning by the pool and this afternoon we did a guided tour of the City Hall which is in the square just below our hotel.
Extremely interesting. It was built in 1758 as a very posh family home. And bought by the council when one of them lost a fortune on fast women and gambling.
The same family who owned Palheiro gardens before the Blandy's.
Beautiful rooms, a lovely courtyard and splendid views across Funchal from the tower :-)
