Wire in the Fog

Head for the hills. Hobbs is trying to be "arty" again. I am sure that MMC17 won't preclude a little fooling with borders and tints in Silver Efex .. will it?  As it stood, during this morning's outing there was nought to see in just about any direction, really. Hopefully things'll clear up a fraction soon.

Wideangle Wednesday: Forced Perspective Optical Illusion

Many of us felt that this was a harder challenge than it first appeared. I (for one) learned a lot as I had never tried this before. In particular, stretching of depth of field proved hard.

Out of discussion with participants, the best approach for that seemed to be:
- smallest possible sensor
- shortest possible focal length
- smallest possible aperture
- focus on the nearby object
- move the nearby object progressively further away from the lens, re-focusing and recomposing as needs be, until the further object pops into focus as well
- crop the picture so the nearby object seems closer than it really was. 

Many thanks especially to all of those who spent so much time working out their composition and experimenting with technique. It is amazing what hard work, dedicated thought and imagination can do. In looking for those postings which I felt deserved most acknowledgement, I sought out a variety of ideas, original concepts and technical success.

Those above (and indeed several others) were so good that lots of judges might well have assessed things differently. Congrats to all. Next week's challenge (widwed66) seems a good deal easier. It is Leading Lines. Naturally next Tuesday I shall try to explain a little more. I shall also throw in an extra "wrinkle" to prevent it from being too easy. See you then.
