"For the love of coffee"

Off early this morning, taking Milly down to her mum's. We went across the A65, through Keithley and Bradford to the M62, and then down the A1. It was a nice journey, just me and Milly in the car, chatting and stopping every so often for coffee and, it must be admitted, doughnuts.

We made it to her mum's in good time and I was invited in for a coffee and a look around the new house, which was quite beautiful: a big, old and brick built, a farmhouse, I think. Funnily enough, I've driven past the end of the (long) road that the house is on many times, when I've been on my way back from Thetford.

Anyway, after a catch up with my ex and goodbye cuddle for Milly, I set off back up the A1. On the way there, I'd mostly been messing about and having a laugh with Milly, but on the way back I spent more time just looking around, and I couldn't help noticing the number of roadside cafés and restaurants that have closed down (or, bizarrely, been converted to 'Adult stores').

This one pictured was at some services: a garage with a shop and a large pot-holed car park, reminiscent of the services on the M61 before they were rejigged. It's a shame; I'd like to have stopped for a coffee but as it was I settled for a sandwich from the garage and set off on my way again.

-2.9kg No doubt a legacy of the beers with John on Friday night but God I need to get this weight loss sorted out!
