There was no longer any doubt - the skeleton being gradually revealed was that of a very short adult male. A very short adult male with a very large pair of wings.
"This proves it!" She was excited to the point of breathlessness. "They DO exist!"
He brushed away some soil, exposing more of the skull. "What it proves is that they DID exist. And that, whatever else they were, they were NOT immortal."
