Perched
Many years ago I thought it would be a good idea to haul a beautiful 'L' shaped piece of beech wood out of the Waimkakariri River bed.
I remember awkwardly staggering on river stones as my knees buckled with the weight and I fought to gain my balance. My piece of beech wood is quite large and heavy. Then there were the river braids to wade across, endless flats of river stones, a bank to clamber up, and finally a van to drop it into.
I can sit a planter in the base of the 'L' and these are the current crop of annuals, delicate and of reminders of Mum.
