Freeze thaw

We woke to abundant snowfall (see extra), but as the day wore on it gave way to warmer temperatures and the snow rapidly fell off the trees and buildings. The avalanche siren was activated this afternoon whilst they were blasting the steeper slopes above the village.
I walked home on black ice as it started to freeze again.
