Well!

... the excitement ... what's a girl to do...? There was a brief, unexpected window at lunchtime and so I grabbed my camera and made a bolt for it. I didn't expect to be able to get a well in on the first day of Holy Well Month ... what a coup!

So, here is the Anchorite Well of Kendal (extra).

I'd done some scouting last week and got lost in the Kendal suburbs but had checked the maps again and when I found a house called Monkswell I guessed I was getting warm.

It's not beautiful but was clearly of great significance in it's day. It was originally in the open fields of Kirkland but is now rather sadly lost amongst a modern development of houses, just set back from the town centre.
