The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Spent much of the day here for my 6 month routine scans and consultant's appointment.
Every visit is a mixed emotional rollercoaster. First and foremost however, is Gratitude. That I am here. Then there is The Fear. The reminder that you can go to bed seemingly healthy to wake up at 3am with a strange pain that a few hours later requires you to be resuscitated, and to be in hospital for 5 weeks dependent on others for your every need, and then 6 months recuperation.
We never do know what's round that corner ...
