Snapshot colour on a dreadfully dull day

Today, same as yesterday but a little bit wetter and a little bit worse. We're paying  dearly for all the wonderful weather last week. The forecast doesn't improve in the next few days either but there is promise of a return to colder weather in February.

The weather thwarted my aim of taking down the Red Robin tree in the garden this morning to make space for the greenhouse. Instead the time was spent on an ultimately futile attempt at arranging training on a new product for the virtual learning environment in prisons. After managing to speak to all the people involved and get their commitment to the event it was decided to cancel it owing to reasons which I won't lumber you with.

I did take a trip out to the primary school where I'm a governor for a meeting of the computer and IT working group. Primary classrooms nowadays are like aladdin's caves, full of displays on every surface, exhortations, lists of words, strategies for solving problems. It's a wonder the kids get any work done or the staff any teaching as the learning environment has to be purposeful and interesting.

Managed to struggle out for a very late afternoon walk, bringing the total for the first month of this year, our 4th year of the Walk1000 mile challenge, to 130 miles.

Update on Blipmeet in the Lakes on 1st March. I've proposed we meet at the National Trust Aira Force carpark on the shores of Ullswater at 10.30, which is the time the tea room opens. Read more in the activities section. Looking forward to seeing you all.
