Bird in hand . . . ?

Molly is well used to being served second. She seems to imagine that all food is hers, and we decided long ago that we should make a point of setting down Jess's bowl first. Normally there is a delay of only a few seconds before Molly gets hers, but today is different.

Because Jess has been off her food lately, we cooked some chicken for their tea. It is being cut up, straight from the frying-pan into their bowls. This has meant that there is a longer delay between Jess getting her meal, and Molly's being ready. As we see in the photos above, poor Molly is torn in two directions. She knows that Mrs jml is busy cutting up a tasty treat for her, and that she will get it very soon. On the other hand, she can see that Jess is enjoying her food; and Molly can't help but feel that she should be out there helping herself to what she regards as her property!!!
