Crepe Myrtle #2

   This is the second Myrtle, root pruned and potted in a bonsai pot.  After I got home from potting, I trimmed to taper the plant.  It is now ready for  wiring and styling.  On top of the roots is spagnum moss which will encourage the roots to grow fine root-hairs.
   I was surprised to learn that a root is the same thing as a branch, only underground.  They are trimmed to tapper the same way the branches are, only for soil.  The branches develope new growth buds, the roots develop new buds... only they are fine in the soil.   Plants grow from the new buds and roots.
