JM Barrie lived here

I went to Nottingham today to spend time with an old colleague. He lives in a high level flat looking out over central Nottingham and I took a few pics. The day was not the best but he pointed out that the creator of Peter Pan had lived in the house featured in the blip. Here is some info:

Sir James Matthew Barrie was a Scottish author and dramatist, best remembered today as the creator of Peter Pan. Although Barrie was born in Scotland and raised there, he did in fact move to Nottingham and worked here for a significant part of his early career. In fact he took inspiration for the story of Peter Pan from his time in Nottingham.

It is said that during his time at the Nottingham Daily Journal, he took inspiration for the character of Peter Pan from a local street urchin walking along Clifton Grove in the city. He also based the setting of Nerverland on the Arboretum.

Today, JM Barrie still has a presence in the city and is immortalised in a special plaque which sits on Pelham Street above the door of the former Nottingham Daily Journal offices.

Have a look at the extra which I spotted in the lounge. It is of course a dentist chair brought from my friend's partner's first dentist office. A lovely quirky bit of furniture.
