Thrift at the Gut
The extraordinary landscape of 'The Gut' in Culbin Forest this morning. The tide was rising slowly covering the salt marshes and beginning to swamp for a few hours the coastal grasses and flowers. The small clumps of pink flowers in the foreground (you can see some apparently marooned on an 'island' a little bit out) are Thrift.
I had left at 8am to walk through the woods and 'rescue' my twins and their aunt who had camped overnight (see yesterday's blipfoto). When I arrived at the coast, the morning sun was bathing the salt marshes in a wonderful light. I took this photo by walking out across the marsh to a mid-point and had to keep a careful eye out not to get marooned by the rising tide.
