crown oversight
A day of travel on public transport. To Glasgow and back, then down to Leith then home.
Opportunities for blips were limited so glad I took this of the crown of St Giles Cathedral in the lovely crisp morning sunshine.
The central belt was misty with low cloud but nothing much possible to photograph from the busy train. Glasgow was sunny but the walk to the meeting on "children on the edge of care" was short. By the afternoon the greyness was descending.
Also descending on Edinburgh, as in so many other cities, were hundreds of people marching against the astonishing decisions by President Trump. These decisions may have the backing of the majority in the USA - he is doing exactly what he said he would - but the execution and implementation of his decisions seems woeful. No planning, detailed consideration, consultation, assessment of impact But that may not be his concern as he probably has wider agendas in mind - though the lack of assessment of risk may come back to bite him.
After a visit to one of his pals in hospital (beaten up and nose broken at the weekend in George Street after a seemingly unprovoked attack) our son headed in to town to see and join the end of the demonstration. The Crown of St Giles oversaw the start of the march at the top of the Mound, just as it has overseen many other events and proclamations over the centuries.
