paint horse

I recall from my Big Boys Bumper Book of the Wild West, references to cowboys riding ‘a paint’.

Which has nothing to do with my blip, as this is a saw horse which has clearly been used when decorating.  So it’s a horse with paint on it.  As opposed to the breed of that name.  But you guessed that.  

I think I’ll have a lie down now.
