Tulips ....again

Gavin left early this morning, he is away until next Monday, so I also got up very early to start my day - not sure why as it is a quiet day, the lull before the storm so to speak, as the rest of the week is rather busy.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that we were thinking of moving houses, what I did not say is that we went ahead and bought the house we saw that day. Well...the peculiar property laws* in the UK mean it is not a done deal until we exchange contracts, but there do not seem to be any obstacles hindering that process - fingers crossed. So since then I have been waking up at 4am every morning thinking...what the hell have we done?! So much to do and so much to organise, and quite a bit of it kicks off this week with appointments from surveyors and all those boring but necessary things that have to get done before contracts are exchanged. I have mixed feelings about it, the reasons we wanted to move were very logical and were good reasons but I feel very sad to be leaving our home where we have lived for 11 years.

It was dull and damp outside today, the walk with Murdoch was a hurried one and there still no snowdrops or crocuses although their stems are pushing through the fallen leaves, so maybe in a week or so we may have some spring bulbs. So an indoor shot of my bought tulips has to do for today.

* By comparison, the property laws in South Africa are such that when you view a property you like, you put in an offer with an expiry time, and when the seller accepts the offer it is binding and the sale is secured. In this way you know that the property is yours, the offer includes the moving date and you can plan with certainty for the move. The transfer of ownership occurs when it is registered in the deeds office but that does not affect moving dates etc. No gazumping, chains or any other  uncertainty which we experience here.
