Growing old disgracefully

By GOD

RAIN, RAIN AND THEN AGAIN, RAIN

Taking a bunch of his own sunflowers for teacher, the VIP went happily into nursery. Monday mornings always find me a little ambivalent - happy to relenquish the responsiblity for his care, but missing him when he goes. I went on to yoga, which as always is a real treat for mind and body. Janis is an exceptional teacher.

This year's heavy rainfall excelled itself today and the garden was more flooded than it has been since I completed the soak away. At about 5 pm the rain lessened to a heavy downpower and I went out in my wellies to find something for dinner that might not be ruined by the rain or munched by the slugs. We had home grown japanese spinach, courgettes, tomatoes, potatoes and onions with a little bacon. I told the Prof it was all from our garden except the bacon and he expressed surprise that I had not ventured into pig rearing. Gave me ideas. What this garden needs is a few hens, a duck or two and a pair of Vietnamese Pot Bellied pigs.

REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL IN SPITE OF THE RAIN:

I have only had to water the veg patch once this year - what a saving of time, water and energy
I completed a lot of boring but essential indoor jobs
I actually found the time at last to read the Nikon D3100 manual. Some of it I even understood, with a little help from some blip colleagues on the forum
