RSPB Garden Birdwatch
I did the RSPB Garden Birdwatch for an hour this morning. For once the birds hadn't been tipped off so quite a few were around, although just the usual suspects; sparrows, robins, finches, blackbirds etc. Not a Condor or Ostrich in sight; the most exotic things I saw were five goldfinches on the seed feeder but they are not uncommon in my garden.
This wood pigeon clearly wanted to look his best for the survey so spent quite a while having a thorough wash and brush up, followed by a session holding his wings in the air to dry them. I didn't like to tell him I'd already finished the count.
