Meals on wheels??

Walking friend and I went for a walk in the rain this morning and as we passed the United Reformed  Church we saw a big sign for a coffee morning so in we went!!   I immediately spotted this object sitting on one of the stalls.  It was still there after we had had a most welcome cup of coffee so I went up to see what it was and intrigued I bought it!  Apparently some of these featured on a Michael Palin program on India.  A sort of lunch box. not at all sure what i'm going to do with it!
