A Shy Kea?

Mario and I went for a drive today and ended up at Arthurs Pass National Park. We went as far as Otira, as we couldn't afford to stay overnight.

As for the shy Kea: I didn't think there was such a thing, as these cheeky birds are quite friendly, and like to get into things that they're not meant to!
This one had a nosy at our car, and it was also very interested in Mario's camera gear. A few minutes later it had had enough, and tippy-tapped away into the bushes. 

There's not many Kea left these days, so it was good to see one - actually we saw three in total, and they were wearing yellow tags on their wee legs.
