Day out
Archie and I went out this morning, and who should we meet but Bert, Brian's wee new half-brother. What a wee cutie (extra) but grumpy old Archie has a thing about puppies, and began to bark at wee tiny Bert, who was wrapped up in his dad's jacket. Hmmm, a frolic for Archie in their back garden will have to wait till Bert gets a big bigger.
Another nice day, no Archie borrowers (for the first time this week) so we took a drive out along the coast to Port Seaton/Cockenzie. I still miss those two big chimneys, but it's a nice walk along the waterfront to the wee harbour. Archie had a good run around, met a few dogs, found a big box of discarded chips, which I took off him and put in the bin. He grudgingly posed on the lobster pots. He has his car harness on.
Back along to inspect the 'Secret Garden'. It used to be Falko's, which is an amazing German bakery in town and another one at Gullane. They did EPIC apple strudel and many other cakes. But they are no longer there. In its place is a dog friendly cafe which is pleasant enough (no muzak!), but not a patch on Falko's. And NO apple strudel!
Back home, and guess what - Archie was sick in the back seat. Fortunately it's covered in newspapers, anticipating such an event, though we had high hopes as he was fine on the outward journey.
Now for a Federer/Nadal Aussie Open final on Sunday. Who could have predicted that delicious prospect?
