Merry.... January?

By the time I got out at for a walk at lunchtime today the sun had gone and the day was grey and cold.

I set off along one of the routes I'd followed before but about of a third of the way round I turned left instead of right and investigated a different area.

Along one of the paths through a wooded bit I came across this tree. It would have been slightly surprising in December but seemed even more out of place at the end if January.

Unlike yesterday's photo this was obviously intentional, but it struck me as another example of the strange things you find in hedgerows when you go out for a walk!
