Jumulu
This beautiful old boab tree named Jumulu grows in Kings Park in Perth. It had to be moved to make way for a bridge on the Great Northern highway and so the 750 year old tree was transported 3,200 kilometres to Perth from the Kimberleys up north.
An interesting fact, the tree is used to a much warmer environment (remember is was 41° yesterday!) and so central heating has been installed in the ground around it. It has been in its present position for quite a few years now and seems to thriving.
The extra photo is of the bell tower down by the ferry wharves in Perth. The bells in the tower were gifted to the city of Perth from St.Martins in the Fields in London. A very modern setting for such old bells which would have been ringing before Australia was discovered by Europeans. I really like the glass tower, it reminds me of the Shard in London.
