Daughter, not me!

I have been running (hoho) out of steam Blipwise, and today was a sad one. My friend has been moved from the stroke unit, a 60 mile round trip, to a palliative care bed, only a 30 mile round trip. I had asked her husband if it was ok for me to sit with her a while and he said he wished I would. Although she is in a coma I chatted to her and read her a bit of the Jane Austen we are reading for our course. Despite the circumstances, I had to laugh - she started to yawn when I was in full flow, which is probably the right reaction to my reading voice. Her husband arrived as I was leaving. We hugged, and he cried. Then we joked that she was spared from having to look after him. She in the same room as my daughter was.

Which leads me neatly on to the picture above - #2 daughter has got a place in the Great North Run. She is running for Steve Cram's charity, in memory of her sister. 35 years ago I did my only half marathon. I'm sure she'll do much better than I did!
