By Appointment
Any of the Danish historians who I may have misquoted here, please contact me asap.
Other countries have humorous chewing gum, we have this bar. I'm not even sure I can give an innocent explanation either because it lies in the middle of Copenhagen's red light and drugs district. The last time I took photos here (a few years ago) I got followed by two junkies who thought I was a pap' and got chased off by a thug with a scarf over his face.
On a more historical note, this is the old drinking haunt of the previous king - hence the title ....obvs'. This area being the sailors and international traders quarter, the tattooed sailor that was King Frederik IX felt at home here. His father was a character too and defied the Nazi curfew by riding his horse every night around Copenhagen and especially along Istergade (this street).
