Lepe Beach

This is a picture of part of the construction site of the concrete caissons which formed the Mulberry Harbours in Normandy in 1944. They were built on these concrete foundations and then launched and towed to Normandy. Lepe was also the site of the first pumping station of PLUTO (Pipeline under the ocean) which carried fuel to the invasion beaches.
