The sun returns....

There is always a day in January when I notice that the sun is returning to the garden. Around the solstice the sun hardly reaches the garden - the woods on the other side of the valley keep the garden in almost total shade, and it's only at the top of the garden near the north wall that there's any sunshine. But today the sun was hitting my favourite birch tree and also Woodhenge, and that gave me a real lift.
