Running Fast As I can

I left work sharpish tonight cause himself phoned to say he was locked out.

As i climbed into the car in the car park Mr Mayo on BBCR2 said 'Home Getting' was the theme and he had a perfect song...

I dialled himself before I left and said; am on my way; am not going to talk to you but am going to let you have a tune til i get home... and i turned the radio up and drove off phone sitting snug in my handbag.

Lindisfarne came on 'running for home' and i knew he would be grinning.

When he was in the Navy, that was a pipe thru the decks song they played when a tour was finished and the boat was turning round.... its a warm all over song and As i sped thru the dark I was grinning knowing he was on the other end of the phone listening to it alongside me.

I was back on the jetty - watching the ship
Come alongside and see my man coming home.

And then I got home and he loved
It too!
